Older men and young women having families. What do you think?

The interesting thing about Isaac and Rebekah, is that God arranged that marriage, so if a woman says that she will never marry a man who is twice her age, she very well might be saying "No" to God. Of course, when a woman refuses to marry a polygamist, the same thing can be said.
Looking at the number of single Christian women, I suspect a lot of that singleness is resulting from a failure to accept God's provisions of older men (polygamists) as husbands. But right now, I personally wouldn't want most of the single "Christian" women in western countries.

True but the best of the actual Christian women, whom we would want, are often the toughest ones to get through to.

Our sons feel the same way! They see so many young women who don't look or act different from "the world" and everything about them suggests that they are likely WORSE than whores, because they are not destitute, desperate, and getting paid....they GIVE IT AWAY!

That is the cruel irony for the "Polywannabees " The women that look at married men have no morals, and the women with morals don't think polygyny supporters have any! (Morals)

If 20 is the "age of accountability" for men, what is the age of accountability for women? Men are allowed to marry before the age of 20, so they will have responsibility for the actions of their wives and children.

It doesn't make sense to me that a man can be held accountable yet not be of an age of accountability. Can someone please explain?
Where, biblically, do you see a male, under the age of 20 being held to accountability before God as a man?

Perhaps, but as I recall when Joseph's brothers went to Egypt to buy grain Benjamin was not allowed by Jacob/Israel to go. So he may have been married, and had children, but was still somehow under his father.

Another example would be men not free. If his master gave a slave a wife she was not his, as he was not "his own" man.

Judah with Tamar was going to give her to Selah when he was old enough....but it doesn't say in English how old that would have been. Past puberty, or past 20 years...who knows?

I just don't think that in early biblical times that men left home at 18 or 20. After all a king back during the time of Moses and Joshua was just the patriarch of a clan.

There is no age indicated for the husband in Numbers 30:6-8. According to Jewish law, the age of puberty was the age a person could be married. The boy's Bar Mitzvah is held at age 13.

Yes, Benjamin was not allowed to go, but it was because Jacob didn't want to lose him. Genesis 42:3-4, So Joseph’s ten brothers went down to buy grain in Egypt. But Jacob did not send Joseph’s brother Benjamin with his brothers, for he said, “Lest some calamity befall him.”

Since we're discussing older men marrying younger women, Charlie Chaplin was 54 years old when he married Oona O'Neill who had just turned 18. They had 8 children, the youngest born when Charlie was 73 and Oona 37.

I was baptized at 9 years in the Mormon church. They teach age of accountability is 8 years old.

Biblical age of accountability is 20 years.

Jesus was approximately 30 when he was baptized by John and began his ministry.
Age of accountability for what?

Applying criminal law?

Or understanding what is sin, doing sin purposefully and being punished for that?

Even 8 year old child can know lying is wrong and being sent to extra chore after getting caught.

my pastor is a decently thoughtful man and he has no defense for the supposed "age of accountability." he doesn't need one; "that's old testament" is probably the length of thought 99% of affirmers have put into it.

How often have we heard that line used for shutting down serious Biblical discussions? It's really sad.

So I think there is a such thing as applied wisdom. So, if a man is in his 50’s with a wife in her 50’s another in 50’s and say a third in her 40’s and he wants a fourth it’s highly unlikely that the husband would want a girl young enough to have children and in today’s society 25 isn’t what it was 40 years ago. You shouldn’t go on a date with a 25 year old and expect her to have the maturity and skill set that wives in there 40s and 50s have. The main thing is using wisdom it’s foolish to try to make a relationship work if someone would not fit in your already established family dynamic. For Example, if you don’t really care for dogs dating a woman with a dog is foolish.

if men were primarily interested in "maturity" we wouldn't have threads like this.
I imagine most of us have seen the survey OK Cupid did on sexual attraction by age and sex.

Basically women think men near their age are most desirable. Men of all ages on the other hand understand that women in their early 20s are most sexually attractive.

That doesn't necessarily mean that we want them, but it does point to a biological reality.

Women should take note, and grab a good man by 25 if possible.

No, I know it isn't. I'm just ballparking. It usually happens around fifty, and we know that Sarah was post menopausal at age 90.

I could have thrown in a sexy 59 year old Salma Hayek instead of Kate Beckinsale. Men might still murder for Salma. 😁
If by men you mean me, you’d be exactly right.
