Older men and young women having families. What do you think?

I have however seen the other side of this, I know a FLDS family that the father was having children into I believe his 90s and he left a lot of children with out a father. It didn't seem like God gave him his wives for anything more than to be a curse to him as i see then as something he heaped to himself as some wives were daughters and possibly grand daughters.
That’s just gross. Obviously those young women can’t be accurately described as wives.

Gross, sure. abusive, absolutely. These women were brought up in a culture of this however. They were taught it from birth. They were told what they are doing is righteous and deeply believed it to be so. This isn't uncommon in FLDS circles. Does God recognize these unions as legitimate marriages, I would think not, However these women believed they were wives and married and worked hard to fulfill the duties as a wife bringing up children and caring for what they believed was their husband. It really is a sad story but maybe by Gods spirit they will see they were abused and live a healthy life going forward. To do so they would have to go against a lifetime of programming and would have to see someone they hold in high regard in a negative light.

That is the same situation for the monogamy-only adherents. Women are conditioned from birth. They are told, shame on men like Abraham, Jacob, David, etc. These women are righteous and want a righteous monogamy-only man! Sad, sad.

If we suggest that these women are not legitimately married to the man, simply on account of his age, we basically call God a liar, when he inspired Moses to write that Abraham married Keturah at age 140!

They are not suggesting that it was due to his age. They are claiming that it was an invalid marriage because he was already married to the mother of the daughter, thus making the marriage to the daughter invalid in the eyes of God.

In this case the man was "married" to his own daughter and although not confirmed but it looked like it, his own granddaughters. The children resulting were not all healthy genetically.

The explanation I have found behind this was that is was more considered righteous for the father to imitate God by being both the father and the husband in imitation of the father and jesus. This is not uncommon in some fringe FLDS although they are very secretive about it.

Ah... This goes to the misunderstanding of who Yeshua marries at his second coming. The promise of the new covenant is that he will marry two nations, not millions or billions of people. The two nations are the House of ISrael and the House of Judah. We as children of God are grafted into one of those nations making her our adopted mother.

As one would then understand, Yeshua is not the husband and father to the same entities. He is Father to us individually and married to the nations that we are a part of.

Maybe I need to preach a sermon to the FLDS minorities. :)

I would say that you can find extreme cases in the margins on all topics and fathering children in his 90s is pretty extreme margins.

Would not have rubber stamped that circumstances were I in the position to be handing out wives.

This topic is making me develop a full on Chief Inspector Dreyfus style facial tick.

Ugh

Yeah the marrying of the daughter of your wife, is a bit off-topic for this thread, but I think we can universally say that is definitely one of the polygyny restrictions given in Lev 18, so there are cases where some forms of polygyny CAN be considered a sin. The topic of this thread though, has nothing to do with that deviant form of polygyny.

Agreed. It’s good to keep things on topic.

Correct.

I prefer the pro vs con argument myself.

Cons - your husband will preceed you in death...but that happens anyway.
Your parents will get really butt hurt... you are going polygynous family so they will be all red and rashy regardless of your husband's age.
People with make claims that you are in a cult...pfffft OK. A massive chunk of the western world is not just OK with but actively supports lives and behavioral that would in previous epochs get their retarded asses smote...and not bloody soon enough for my taste. But yeah, the most common form of marriage throughout the scope of modern man is now a cult. Uuuuh huh. Cool story.

Pros - (younger woman's perspective coming into a family)
How many young women actually know home Economics and I capitalized that for a reason. Not just cooking and cleaning, even though most don't even get the basics of that now, but i mean actually runny a family budget and being the proverbial office manager for a family? How about the theoretical more appealing young buck husband? Presumably he can mentor and teach all of those needed skills that he managed to garner between video games and Reddit binges or other leas savory activities...right? Or you could walk into a functioning system and learn about that management of a family from experienced hands. It has been my experience that a first wife is very happy to share her system and how to manage the big silly gorilla that they now each have shares in and hopefully loads of children.
Does she wish to go full tradwife at home? Probably possible.
Does she wish to work on her education? Probably possible
Does she wish to have a career?
Probably possible
Does she want to be a full on mom and homeschool teacher?
Probably possible
The point is that there are more options for a young woman going into polygyny than there are with monogamy or doing that out there in the world routine.
I have a rather abrasive but entirely accurate extended litany against that latter one and how destructive and dysgenic it is...just destructive to womanhood and by extension men cease to strive and the world goes to hell in a handbasket. Yippee

There are loads more pros and cons but I think the pros can casually stomp the cons. Opinions differ though. Decide for yourself ladies.
As for me, the girl out there in the world doesn't sound as good as security, stability and family

I saw a meme for women that said they should marry a man old enough so that when she starts to lose her physical attractiveness, he will be too blind to notice!
