It implies no human alliance is sacred (including marriage) can be broken at will in order to chase some benefits. It produces low trust society (check Africa if you need examples).
What people here need to realize is that you cann't scream Lord forbids divorce in order to save marriage. Work on alligning interests must be done. Do you know what is easy? Give up everytime it gets hard and that bloody quote supports it.
