Hi All,
I'm looking forward to engaging in this community and learning more about Polygamy from a biblical perspective.
I'm a 41 year old married man (one wife), and 3 young son's. My wife and I have been married for a little over 12 years now. The first discussions of polygamy between my wife and I started about 2 years into our marriage.
Over the years we’ve been in and out of phases where we were actively praying to God to introduce us to someone special that could join our family.
Nearly everyday for the past 2 years we have prayed this special someone would enter our lives.
Unfortunately, both my wife and I have mixed feelings about polygamy.
I see women in general as God’s single most intriguing mystery in existence. And maintaining a healthy marriage is the most mysterious part of life to me. Am I really ready to add another complex divine mystery to our lives?
My wife’s mixed feelings come from how it will affect the children. I share some of the concern there.
Both my wife and I are having concern for jealousy issues that may arise.
One thing I know for sure. If my wife and I are considering this arrangement, we probably should be exposed to plural marriage families. Especially one’s that are well rounded and are pleasing in the eye’s of God.
In the 10 years we have discussed the possibility of this arrangement, we have never (at least that we know of) actually met a family that practices plural marriage.
“Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.” Proverbs 15:22
So here I am, seeking wise council.
Thank you and God Bless,
Allen E
