Hi All,

I'm looking forward to engaging in this community and learning more about Polygamy from a biblical perspective.

I'm a 41 year old married man (one wife), and 3 young son's. My wife and I have been married for a little over 12 years now. The first discussions of polygamy between my wife and I started about 2 years into our marriage.

Over the years we’ve been in and out of phases where we were actively praying to God to introduce us to someone special that could join our family.

Nearly everyday for the past 2 years we have prayed this special someone would enter our lives.

Unfortunately, both my wife and I have mixed feelings about polygamy.

I see women in general as God’s single most intriguing mystery in existence. And maintaining a healthy marriage is the most mysterious part of life to me. Am I really ready to add another complex divine mystery to our lives?

My wife’s mixed feelings come from how it will affect the children. I share some of the concern there.

Both my wife and I are having concern for jealousy issues that may arise.

One thing I know for sure. If my wife and I are considering this arrangement, we probably should be exposed to plural marriage families. Especially one’s that are well rounded and are pleasing in the eye’s of God.

In the 10 years we have discussed the possibility of this arrangement, we have never (at least that we know of) actually met a family that practices plural marriage.

“Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.” Proverbs 15:22

So here I am, seeking wise council.

Thank you and God Bless,

Allen E

I as well, love to hear of the success stories and the various keys to success, I am divorced and remarried and don't wish another failure.

Welcome to Biblical Families. I hope you and your wife find the friendships you are looking for. Perhaps the best environment for meeting other families are the retreats. I not in the USA so I've not been to any there but have met some lovely folks outside the USA. Best wishes.

As mentioned, retreats are a very important tool for getting to know people.

Let us know what part of the country that you are in, there are many of us spread around.
edit: I see your title, NE Ohio

Just a heads up, you have to spend a certain amount of time engaging with the site before you get the privilege to send and receive private communications.
After that you can message at will. No extra charge.

As far as your concerns about jealousy and etc, the enemy of our souls will definitely do his damnedest to exploit any weaknesses that either of you have. He is really faithful about that.
He both hates and fears polygyny done right and is guaranteed to fight anyone attempting to practice it. Choosing this walk is an automatic sign-up for an unintended self-improvement course.

Welcome! I hope you will find some good things here on the Forum and possibly a retreat close enough to you. We just had our summer retreat with about 35 kids of different ages. I have yet to know of a kid who came to retreat and didn't have a good time meeting other kids from plural minded families, and I have been to a lot of retreats. :-) May the Lord direct your steps in all things.

Edit: I do hope your wife will make an account also so we can get to know her. FYI, it is helpful to gender label your accounts so you can post in the Gentleman's Only and Ladies Only sections. Blessings!

Shalom and welcome.

I know you didn’t mean this to be funny. But I cracked a smile. The more you are “exposed”, the less anthropological it’ll seem. You’ll find that plural families are just “families”. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors and flavors…just like all the non plural families you know.

Thank you, My wife and I are looking forward to any opportunities to attend a retreat.

"Bring lawyers, guns, and money, Dad....nevertheless not my will, but Thine, be done."
I lucked out and didn’t have a Dad around to get me out of any trouble. Only my Father in heaven could intervene. None the less, at times my Father in heaven sent lawyers, guns, and money… Even if it was in opposition to what I would have willed. Now adays Lawyers, Guns, & Money = Psalm 107 to me.

Truer words haven’t been spoken to me in a long while. My wife and I started to share our desires for a plural biblical marriage 6 years ago. Let’s just say I now know what it is like to identify as the Rock of Gibraltar. My former business partner could find no fault in me prior to sharing this with him. He used this as excuse to justify trying to bring me to ruin. My wife had plenty of opportunities to pile on top of what appeared to be my demise. But she stood by me and our family in some of the most despicable circumstances. More recently I had a contract canceled because it got back to the client that I was a polygamist. Had my wife and I been swingers it would have been fine in the client; I’d still be winning lots of bread from this contract. The client went out of their way to contact my wife behind my back. It didn’t go how the client thought it would go. My wife was upset and provoked to wrath towards the client. The client than attempted to put a rumor out that my wife contacted her. All this to say I could write a serious novel about all the occurrences of the enemy attacking with persistence since my wife and I started exploring biblical polygamy. I'm so much more stronger as a Man of God than I ever could have imagined. Always lot's of room for improvement.

Just having a place to explore this with people whom possibly share the same values as my wife and is a great gift right now. The free and open web is quickly being encroached upon. I made the mistake a few years ago of trying to explore the topic on social media. I found everything but biblical based groups. And the very few that I did find were inactive.

A retreat with lot’s of children for my son’s to interact with would be amazing.

I asked my wife if she was ready and open to participate here in the forums. Her response was a simple “No”.

I’m sure that will change as I frequently interact here Even though my wife was not brought up in a household that valued the holy word, she has turned out to be the definition of a Proverb’s 31 wife.

Thank you everyone for the warm reception.

We made the family retreat in 2019. We met a family there that is now family to us as our daughter married their son...and then their daughter married our son. The retreats really feel like a family reunion with family you didn't know you had.
Shalom and welcome.

After meeting the family...our daughter got to talking with their son. Then, before the wedding my husband married another woman, then they had a daughter. The wife and daughters didn't know how it would be meeting us after this change. They were impressed with how.....NORMAL it was.
Just family after all.

So true. It comes as a bit of a surprise to some that we don't have horns and a tail, but are mostly indistinguishable from others. Of course there are always a few exceptions.... . ;)
